Dr. Dan Jordan, DVM
Dr. Jordan has practiced in the Houston area for over 30 years since earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1995, he moved his practice to central Houston to reach a larger, more diverse client base, and opened Animal Medical Center of the Village. In addition to providing top-notch care for domestic animals, he has a love for exotic animal and wildlife medicine, which began when he recognized the need for expert exotic animal medical care. He witnessed the concern and heartbreak his mother experienced when she had searched unsuccessfully for an avian vet to treat her sick Amazon parrot. Dr. Jordan created a niche for his broad interests through combining dog and cat medicine with the emerging field of exotic medicine.
Both clients and staff agree that Dr. Jordan is a gifted veterinarian. His dedication and devotion to all animals is illustrated by the consistently exceptional, quality care he provides. Fundamental, time-tested basics woven together with the most current scientific research, pharmacology and state-of-the-art technology are the driving forces behind Dr. Jordan’s veterinary practice. His profound understanding of veterinary medicine, curiosity and aptitude for discovering the root cause of any illness affecting a pet, compassionate treatment towards all patients, and the gratitude he and his staff maintain in their relationship with AMCV clients and their pets are all foundational to his practice.

In addition to her Doctorate, she received her Master’s in public health. Enjoying all aspects of veterinary medicine from emergency to small animal, Dr. Kaplan-Stein has a special interest in avian and exotic medicine, as well as Zoonotic and different emerging diseases, making her a valuable member of the Animal Avian Hospital team.
When she’s not at work, she enjoys spending time with her horse, Sage. She also has two cats, Tiger and Littlefoot, and two miniature Schnauzers named Winnie and Cappie. Dr. Kaplan-Stein is a second generation veterinarian; her mother is a small animal veterinarian in Gainesville, FL, where her family also resides.
Dr. Michelle Taylor, DVM - Associate Veterinarian
Dr. Taylor grew up watching Animal Planet—and she especially loved the veterinary shows. Her love for animals was kindled by not only what she learned from the television, but from personal experience. Her first childhood pet, a cat name Fumar, taught her a lot about compassion toward animals and their health needs, and consequently inspired her to pursue veterinary medicine.
She worked hard throughout her schooling and shadowed many veterinarians to get a feel for their daily work. Dr. Taylor was accepted into Texas A&M University for Biomedical Sciences, and then went directly into their veterinary school for her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in 2018 and is now a part of our team!
At home, she has two cats: Theodore, a Siamese, and Merlin, a domestic short-hair. She loves spending time with them, as well as crafting, cooking and playing board games.
Heather Williams, BAS – Practice Manager
Originally from Philadelphia, Heather moved to Houston in 2007 after traveling around the country for a few years working with animals. In all of her travels, the people here made Houston feel like home. Her background consists of wildlife rehabilitation and zookeeping (reptiles, amphibians, and birds). She graduated from the University of Delaware in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal science and wildlife conservation.
When she’s not working, Heather enjoys reading and spending time with her husband and very active toddler. They have three dogs, Cookie, Luca, and Rocky. Watching her daughter grow up with a great love for animals after she herself has followed her passion for them her whole life, is one of the most rewarding parts of her day.
Melissa, LVT – Technical Supervisor
Melissa, originally from Cloverdale, IN, moved to Houston to pursue her passion of caring for all animals—and who knows better than a woman who has her own petting zoo at home? Her “zoo” includes four dogs, seven cats, two rabbits, a guinea pig, a chinchilla, an African grey, two cockatiels, a lovebird, two budgies, a Sun conure, a Quaker parakeet, two leopard geckos, a Mali uromastyx and a betta fish.
In high school, Melissa worked part time at her neighborhood vet clinic. She later attended Purdue University and graduated with an Associate’s degree in veterinary technology in 2002. She worked in the corporate world for about five years before committing to her love of animals and moving to AMCV in 2007. Her favorite part of work is having the opportunity to connect one-on-one with patients and owners.
When not working, Melissa enjoys watching movies, reading, and gardening. She also has a passion for cooking, which explains why she loves watching anything on the Food Network. When she wants to get away, Cozumel, Mexico is the place she finds most relaxing.
