Veterinarians in Houston
Dr. Dan Jordan, DVM
Dr. Jordan has practiced in the Houston area for over 30 years after earning his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine. In 1995, he moved his practice to central Houston to reach a larger, more diverse client base and opened Animal Medical Center of the Village.
In addition to providing top-notch care for domestic animals, he has a love for exotic animal and wildlife medicine. His passion began at a very young age when he recognized the need for expert exotic animal medical care. He witnessed the concern and heartbreak his mother experienced when she had searched unsuccessfully for an avian vet to treat her sick Amazon parrot. Dr. Jordan created a niche for his broad interests through combining dog and cat medicine with the emerging field of exotic medicine.
Both clients and staff agree that Dr. Jordan is a gifted doctor. His dedication and devotion to all animals is illustrated by the consistently exceptional, quality care they receive. Fundamental time tested basics woven together with the most current scientific research, pharmacology, and state of the art technology is the driving force behind Dr. Jordan’s veterinary practice.
Dr. Jordan’s profound understanding of veterinary medicine, his curiosity and aptitude to discover the root of any illness affecting your pet, compassionate treatment towards all his patients, and the gratitude he and his staff maintain in their relationship with AMCV clients and their pets are foundational to his practice.

Melissa, originally from Cloverdale, IN, moved to Houston around eight years ago to pursue her passion of caring for all animals, and who knows better than a woman who has her own mini petting zoo at home. Her “zoo” includes four dogs, seven cats, two rabbits, a guinea pig, a chinchilla, an African grey, two cockatiels, a lovebird, two budgies, a sun conure, a Quaker, two leopard geckos, a Mali uromastyx, and a beta.
In high school, Melissa worked part time at her neighborhood vet clinic. She later attended Purdue University and graduated with an associate’s degree in veterinary technology in 2002. She worked in the corporate world for five years before following her compassionate, loving nature of animals and making her move to AMCV in 2007. Her favorite part of work is the opportunity to connect on-on-one with patients and owners.
When not working, she likes to watch movies, read, and garden. She also has a passion for cooking, which explains why she enjoys watching anything on The Food Network. When she wants to get away, Cozumel, Mexico is the place she finds most relaxing.
